So, anyone know what the heck happened over there? The 24 hour news channels are so full of hype and speculation its hard to figure out what really happened. |

from what I can tell, Al-Quaeda bombed around 5 subway station spots and a bus, i hear death tolls between 2 and 30. That's all the info i've gotten so far.

2 busses have been bombed and 5 subways by Al-Quaeda.
all the FBI agents are in Schotland for the G8, and Al-Quaeda took that opportunity to place the bombs....... _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |

The story over here in England is 4 bombs in 1 hour, the first 3 were on underground trains the forth on the upper deck of a bus. death toll is at 38 but is expected to rise as there are a few people on the critical list and they are having trouble working out how many were on the bus. but one thing us brits are good at is not panicing and life will go on, the London transport system is all ready back up and running all be it very delayed, and they reckon it will be running at around 90% by morning rush hour. For all there efforts the terrorists only managed cause an itch and the british public will just scratch it and move on.
ill just end by saying God rest the souls of those who died.... |

If this had happened in the US: A public bus transport would NEVER run again and the subways would be closed for a very long time. _________________

Yeah, heard about this too while driving. What do people think they can accomplish by doing this sort of thing? I mean, I know what the hypotheses are about it, but seriously.... I don't know, this really ... makes me mad is the pg version. _________________

Current death toll is 37, though that will probably rise a bit by this time tomorrow (edit: can't see it going over 45 though)
As voc said, one thing we're good at is not panicking. The response that I've seen from people (having read in news, seen tv footage and read blogs of people I know in London) is more a kind of "oh for f*cks sake, sod off!" than anything else. The Uk, London especially, is used to this - ok the IRA haven't done anything major for a few years but people have seen this before.
Al-Qaeda seem not to have noticed that attacks on London's public transport is nothing new.
Didn't see the point the US raising its terror level though, the most basic analysis of Al-Q's tactics shows us that they'll hit one place, then go to ground for months before striking again - don't think they've ever struck multiple targets in multiple countries so far. _________________ Most evil admin around.
