Hi everyone!

As a last ditch effort, I'm hoping there's someone here that may hold some key to this puzzle.

Searching:

For walkie talkies with a mono earbud that allows you to not only receive, but transmit as well.

Mic must be built into the earbud piece, not a lapel clip on, mouth extension, or seperate in any way. PTT, not steady VOX. VOX as an option is preferred.

These are the style the Secret Service uses. We obtained these from Radio Shack several years ago but they are now discontinued and our supply is trashed. I can't seem to find them any where now. These are the type of headsets we use at the haunted house. Nothing comes close to an all inclusive transmit/receive earbud unit due to the amount of ambient noise that is constantly taking place in the house. Everything else we have tried has failed miserably. Lapel, mouth extension, or any separate mic will not do. Mic has to be located within the earbud itself. Mono earbuds only, not dual stereo. We have to have one ear open to hear the screams!

If anyone can point me in a direction I may have missed, please don't hesitate to help. We've been looking to replace these for a couple years now and hope is dwindling.

If anyone stumbles across anything, you can email me at ted@nightmarefactory.com If you do find something we can use, I will surely have some sort of present for you!

Thankee!

Take care Ville.

Have you tried contacting the secret service?

I know exactly what you are talking about as I used to have one many moons ago. I haven't used one in a while though. If your area has a local "spy shop" then you may try there.

LOL....the company I work for makes those devices for the secret service. I don't know if we can sell directly to the public though. I'll find out and get back to you.

ya, i don't think its legal to buy those in the store or anything, but you can probably get a document saying your company is allowed to buy and use them because i see other companies using them all the time. it is legal, however, to buy a receiver for those and listen to other frequencys.

There is nothing illegal about transducer (bone conduction) earphone/mics you can buy them on ebay. For example, below is the link for the higher quality style for the Kenwoods that I own for GMRS [I have two of theses mics]:

Kenwood Hi-N Transducer Mic

These are not VOX type. However, you can get VOX boxes [usually on the belt] to plug these into. I don't know if you have to short the PTT switch or not if you use a VOX box. What type of Radios do you have KRG? There are several different mic wiring schemes used by different companies.

PM me KRG and tell me more about your needs.

I have a mic and headset from Radio Schack that is attached to a VOX box. I intend at some point to rig it to work with the Kenwoods and their mics.
