I'm a big fan of Corsair's XMS 2-3-3-6 RAM and would suggest you consider upgrading to either 2x512MB or 1x1GB. As always, it's just my personal opinion. If you want someone elses opinion...

OK, OK, so what's the bottom line?
So, the bottom line is, moving from CAS-3 to CAS-2 will offer a percentage performance increase in the low single digits for most applications. Programs which are known to be memory intensive (you gamers might know of some...) will see the best improvement.

And, if you want some benchmarks that back that up, go to the top of pg. 7 here.

Otherwise everything seems OK... top notch processor (very good value for dollar right now, from what I understand) and pretty well respected motherboard. I don't know if I will ever understand the need to get a top-of-the-line video card and pay 100% more for 15-50% more performance in only some games, but I know I'm in the minority in the world of gamers on that one.

I should start a thread here with a poll... "Do you want to hear my opinion on tech matters?"... If I put one option "Yes" and 4 different versions of "No", then Yes might win.

believe me I'd love to not be paying $400 for my video card, but I want something that will push everything top notch...HL2, Doom 3, etc...w/ everything turned up and run as close to butter as possible...

From what I've been reading the only thing that really does that right now is the 6800 GT, but if you know of another then please let me know b/c I can then not skimp on other aspects of the comp.

Thanks for the link to the RAM, consider it considered...I may just change up, I had selected the one I did due to simple pricing b/c the vid. card cost so much.

Then he'd have to buy an SLi Mobo right? And one 6600 GT doesn't run HL2 on high. Just 80 FPS on medium, but it still looks good lol.

Concur with that. Power is becoming a more critical item with these faster processing speeds.
