|
|
I just upgraded a bit with a new fatty hard drive and some ram. After reinstalling DOD I noticed that the game plays a lot faster than it had before. The game play is much more smooth than it was before but there seems to be some sort of delay or something between my keyboard/mouse or something of the sort. In short, I feel motion sick after playing for just a few minutes. My latency is the same as it was before so i'm thinkin that cant be the problem. I adjusted my cl_updaterate and stuff like that to the 60s or 70s so i dont think that is the problem. By the way its a logitec keyboard with a wireless mouse. Any one have any thoughts or solutions???? I love DOD and i dont wanna quit but dang, i just git dizzy.

Make sure your rates didn't reset to default.
Also make sure your cl_cmdrate is set to around 60-101 _________________ <eVa>Simpleman-V$=<RIP> |

Make sure you are in OpenGL and not D3D mode. That can make a huge difference with some nVidia cards, but just check to make sure. _________________

i would think it may be latency with the wireless mouse and keyboard.....just a thought? Maybe your IR is weak or almost fried |

I use the Logitech MX700 wireless combo and it works flawlessly.
It could be a number of things. If your using XP, you most likely need to
disable a good portion of the un-needed services that eat up CPU time.
Go look for a link to Black Viper, who offers suggested OS settings.
An up-to-date graphics card helps, with at least 128m, which also off-
loads CPU usage. I recently got a G-Force 6600GT. Big bang for the buck.
As to the memory, at least a gig. I ran 2 256m sticks (in DDR mode) for a while, but again, XP is a memory hog. The gig probably made the biggest difference to my system.
As Gamepro stated, use OpenGL.

Yo Wag! Good to hear from you. Anyway, I'm assuming you reinstalled your OS when you upgraded your HDD. Make sure you have the drivers for your mouse and keyboard installed. I don't really understand what you mean by "the game plays faster" but it's probably because your mouse settings got changed after reinstallation. check to make sure your mouse speed is set how you like it on your OS and also check your settings in DOD. Make sure your mouse acceleration is off. As for the motion sickness, it could be a number of things. I noticed (very weak stomach) I used to get sick from playing due to the refresh rate and tearing from my LCD monitor, try and set your VSYNC to "always ON" You may lose some FPS but it definitely smoothed things out for me. Give those a shot and if you still have issues post it here and we'll try to help!

Is the keyboard wireless too, or just the mouse...
have you checked the batteries in our mouse yet? I haven't experienced it in game yet, but i know when my batts get low(and even before logitech tells me to change them) i sometimes get a delay when typing or moving the mouse. just the thought.
