It doesn't appear it's coming out today. Maybe they meant Thursday.

This is the email I got from Valve LAST week.

We're currently planning to release the Half-Life 1.1.0.8 and Counter-Strike
1.0.0.3 updates next week.

If you are a current mirror site for the HL 1.1.0.7 and CS 1.0.0.2 files and
DO NOT want to continue as a mirror for our next release, please send e-mail
to mailto:mirrors@valvesoftware.com and let us know. We will remove you
from the list.

If you would like to continue being a mirror site for our next release, you
do not need to do anything at this time. You'll be receiving our
announcement e-mail next week with mirroring information.

If you are NOT a current mirror site but would like to be one, send e-mail
to mailto:mirrors@valvesoftware.com and you will be added to the list.

Please send questions to mailto:mirrors@valvesoftware.com.

Thanks.

Eric Smith
Valve Software

Ahh yes the gods have favored YPAWOM for a few more days it seems then, This means he will not be having to buy Half-Life so soon, and may continue to play on his cracked version a few more days.
It was a tragic story, one of broken CD's that caused YPAWOM to turn to a cracked version to continue his fun..but alas, it will end with defeat, as thursday, he will again have to fork out $40 to buy Half-Life again.

There are new cracks for 1.0.0.8 already and I know a place where you can get a new CD key too.

Found this on http://www.pczone.co.uk
Usually a reliable source of info:
"Supposedly due out this week, it has been announced that the next Half-Life patch [v1.1.0.8] has been delayed and will instead be with us at some point within the next fortnight. This delay also means that Counter-Strike v1.3 will be held back, along with many other HL MOD updates that are waiting patiently in the wings. The next Half-Life patch will include Valve Software's much talked about Spectator mode and Voice-Over-Net technology. "

Aaaaaaw crap - and I have been waiting so excitedly. John - funny you should mention differences in language. Coming from South Africa, where we like to think we speak the queens english, it took us a while to adjust our speech, so that you lot could understand us - some of the funnier ones we had to get rid of :-

South Africa = America
--------------------------
Boot = Trunk
Bakkie (pronounced buk-ee) - Truck
Jelly = jello
Robot - Traffic light
Braai (pronounced brigh as in high) = barbecue
Flat = Apartment
Pavement = sidewalk
Road = Pavement
Lift = Elevator
We put milk in our coffee, not cream
Now-now and just-now have different meanings, basically for "in a short while"

Hehehe - the list is endless, we have had a lot of fun eliciting blank stares from when we forget to speak like americans.

Yup Stick - my wife is Afrikaans and I am English - pretty simple....most white South Africans speak 2 languages - English and Afrikaans. Expressions from both languages seem to have crept into each other. So my home langauge is English, and second is Afrikaans. My wife is the other way around.
South Africa was settled by the Dutch - hence the Afrikaans, and then there was the Boer war where the English established SA as a part of the Empire, and hence the English part of it. Simple huh ? - BTW - what part of SA is your g/f from - my wife and I are from the best place in South Africa - Cape Town.
