I found this link this morning from a G4TechTV email. If you like alternative gaming, it looks like an interesting source to check out.

The article suggested the following games..

Here are the Top Five Overall Best Indie Games:

5. Breakquest: "The level design is unlike anything else out there."

4. Outpost Kaloki: "The reason why this is good is because it has a lot of humor in it."

3. Hamsterball: "This is actually the game I've played most on my desktop this year."

2. Wik and the Fable of Souls: "What make this game great is the connection you can make with the character."

1. Gish: "Gish is on the of single best experiences you can have in a video game, period."

They look nice and all, but $20 would cut into money towards World of Warcraft. And for the latest version of each game? Errr, don't really know 'bout that. If they had demos of the current versions, that'd be nice. Otherwise, I think I'll give the Samurai one a try (free download version), but that's that about it.

I will say that I do enjoy the Flash-based game called Adventure Quest at http://www.battleon.com. Free if you want, but if you donate a one-time $14, you get full access to everything, even some things still under development. (<--I sound like such a salesperson there.)

EDIT: Nevermind, seems that most do have demos in some form or another. Samurai game's fun, in a simple sort of way.
