I don't know if anyone here has heard of LUSerNET. It was developed by people at Lancaster University. It is a file sharing program that works only over a LAN. Some people at my school started using it and spread the word. Depending on your school network you should be able to get godly download rates. I can attain 600 - 800 kb/s when downloading one thing at a time. Its nice being able to download 5 songs in about 15 seconds.
