Hey brothers, once again I need help. Why is DOD so laggy?!?! I can play any other mod seamlessly. I tried adjusting settings in steam, someone suggested to adjust my fps, I did that too. Every darn DOD server I log on to I end up with 500-1500 ping !!!!!!! Even though the server list shows latency at like 45. Some one please please help. THANK YOU

So you are positive Steam has your connection type correct? Make sure it's not set to dialup or some junk. If you are positive your Steam settings are correct;

Go here: http://www.hltoolz.com/

This program increased my FPS in DOD by at least 20. I never had a problem with my ping but it will also help that if you need it.

It does just about everything for you. All you do is set a few of the options and it will configure your cfg file for you.

1 tip. Save your current config.cfg file in another folder. Just so you always have a backup. If you do not like the changes, you can always just change the files back in a second.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Did you check out this post?

maybe that will help. Also.. what kind of PC are you running it on. DoD takes more power than most mods.

Yeah lower end machines can have high latencies in DoD because of all the detail they put into it.

hltoolz worked wonders for me with my choke issue. I just had to set it to show my connection settings as .75 of what they really are, and I usually only get like 1 choke now when in the middle of a firefight.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've narrowed my problems down to my low end video card (32mb piece a junk). The rest of my box is fairly decent 1.6ghz, 768 ram. It wont even run DOD at the lowest possible settings. Again I appreciate your taking the time to help me.

Well did you try that hltoolz? It changes some advanced settings and takes out extra detail to increase performance.

turn effects off. It helps a lot. bind a key to stopsound. It willl clear up processing power. You will need that if your 1.6 happens to be a williamette p4, or a celeron.
