Quote:
Video Games Can Waste Children's Time

I wonder how many experts it took to figure that out...

That is so BIAST (However you spell that) it only shows that video games have "sexist images, racial-slurs, and gore" they dont show the long term effects of MULTIPLAYER GAMES WHERE YOU INTERACT WITH OTHERS. And they dont show anything about COMPUTER GAMES, its all about console games, some people are so niave about this its horrible.

I agree that it is very biased but so are you. Video games aren't as constructive as other activities, but they can teach some skills. But why should they be expected to help a child learn? They were designed to be fun entertainment for lots of different people. Console games can improve dexterity in the hands as well as computer games. You learn to do many things at one time with your hands. Playing computer games could lead to other computer skills. It starts with learning basic computer skills such as loading a program and using the keyboard and mouse. Then you start learning how the game and the internet works.

You can also learn how to type fast and communicate with other people while you play. You learn about teamwork and how to get complicated tasks completed in a limited time. You can learn a lot of things from games.

I also agree, however, that parents shouldn't let their young children sit at a computer all day, and they don't in most cases. Kids spend a large amount of their time in school, then they go home to play games. That doesn't sound bad at all.

And games do have some content that may not be approprate for a lot of kids, but they do have a rating system that categorizes these things. As long as younger kids stay at the approprate level, they should be able to avoid explicit content.

Yeah I was just saying that it does make some good points, but leaves out a lot of good ones.
