I plan on getting it when I get back from Winnipeg. So I will probably get it a week from today if I can.

GeForce fx series will all have 8x pipes for doom 3, and geforce 6 series will either have 24 or 32 (32 for ultra, 24 for GT and standard).

I played Halo for the first time the other day on an xbox and just couldn't do it. I guess I have to have a mouse/keyboard to play fps's.

?

Are you referring to the pipelines of the cards? The 6800 Ultra and GT are both 16 pipe cards.

Here is a link to let you know how your system will stack up. Believe it or not, most systems will be able to play it, just not with max settings and may have to cut the res a bit.. No co-op and no real multiplayer are the biggest complaints.

My system runs very fine thank you (P4, 1.4 ghz), however, according to that URL it won't cut it because of video cards and RAM issues.

So I will screw D3 rather than spend money on a new system. At 35, the days I would change a computer to be able to play a long-awaited game are behind me, my priorities have changed

The gt only has 12 pipes. However, because of how nvidia designed the cards, they can render twice on the same pass under certain circumstances, effectively doubling thier pipeline count/performance. It just so happens that those circumstances happen mainly in the doom3 engine.

The GT is a 16 pipe card. You may be thinking of the X800 Pro from ATI. The Pro has 12 pipes and the XT has 16. The only difference between the GT and the Ultra is that it is clocked lower and I think it has slower memory, making it use a bit less power. The reason for the Nvidia cards having the best Doom 3 performance is because it is top notch in the OGL department. ATIs OGL drivers aren't up to par with Nvidias. The use of Ultrashadow II and being able to use partial precision, with no IQ hit, when needed, is also a good reason for the performance win. Yes the cards can double its pipeline work in colorless z passes.
