Well, for those of you who dont know, I have a domain and website (ww.orcish-design.net, ASF MOD site is hosted at www.americanspecialforces.orcish-design.net) - 1gig of space and 50 gigs of bandwidth. Everything is going fairly well, the site is nice and developing quite well. My sister is also creating a website - a rock review website called Rock Habilitation. In the beginning she agreed to certain terms, no media files such as songs and videos, and absolutly no archiving since it would take up far too much space. Well, she decided that my terms suck, she decided that she will put videos, music and start an archive on the website...

Here we come to the most recent part of the story. Last month, I decided to update the ASF website and my general design website - since I havent had time to even get a design up and running yet. I attempted to get into the control pannel and what did I find? Our bandwidth for the month had been used up, interesting I thought. That must be some kind of mistake. I tried again and found that it was infact used up. Wierd, I thought. So I decided that I would check it the next month (July). Onto the website I went today, and would you guess what I found? Media files - 3x40MB video files, about 20-30 songs and about 200+ 150 DPI pictures... And about 100 MB worth of archived reviews from the past few weeks and months.

Now, I have no real issue with her using the space, pictures are fine - although 150 DPI are massive for web pictures. What really ticks me off is that she says the terms were "BS" and that they shouldnt apply to her. Now, I havent charged her a cent for the space used - Im paying about $175 CND / year for the entire domain and site. Why then, would she refuse to follow a few simple conditions of her using the space? I dont really understand what the reason might be, but, it really ticks me off - especially when I see the band width that she used up last month alone.

Bandwidth for June 2004:

121566 KB accessed 1755 times.

121566x1755 = 213348330 KB transfered

(1024 KB in one MB)

213348330 / 1024 = 208348 MB transfered

(1000 MB in one GB)

208348 / 1000 = 208.35 GB of trafic in one month alone.

Logically 208.35 GB is far greater then 50 GBs right?

"Oh well," she said, "Its not a big deal, and besides you have no right to tell me what to do with MY website."... Wow, that really ticks me off.

What do you guys think? Do I have the right to tell her conditions that she must stick to inorder to use MY webspace? Should I just delete her stuff? Or is that too harsh?

if YOU are paying for it, then logically and legally it is YOUR property on the internet, and she has no right to abuse/ruin your property that your paying for. i say just give her the boot until she agrees to follow your guildlines

Yeah you should delete everything that shouldn't be there. If she wants to do stuff that isn't part of the agreement, then she can get her own site.

Delete her ftp account and ALL of her content. Have her get her own hosting.

Change the password she uses to login into her account, put a password on to her computer so she can't access her desktop, rename and move all her files into different hidden folders, say bad things to her friends on her IM account (pretending you're her), steal the necessary amount of money required to pay for your site, throw all of her underwear into neighboring yards (if one of them's a guy, leave a hot little message for him too ), disconnect her phone, hide vast amounts of jello somewhere that it will fall on her, lock her door, address a letter to her with only the words "Haha" written and send it to your mailbox.

Oh, and thewz idea is good too.
