Does anyone know of an internet connection sharing program that is compatible with steam? _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |

If You Mean Sharing Your Computer's Internet Connection With Another Computer In Your Network, Just Use Network Connections Wizard. _________________ ********* *********

OK, if I understand your request your trying to share a dialup connection to the internet with two computers?
The easiest way is Windows XPs internet connection sharing IMHO. You would want the modem to be on a windows XP machine, install and configure ICS and then use it to connect to your ISP.
Of course the XP machine and the other machine will have to be networked together with NICS and a crossover lan cable or a hub.
Good Luck. _________________

I know about ICS, but it is incompatible with steam and was the source of my not being able to connect to servers. I was seeing if there was a program that was compatible with steam and would allow me to be able to connect to game servers. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Steam has nothing to do with ICS....
DIH and I use a Router and ICS; we have no problems with connecting through Steam at the same time.
Keep trying it will work out eventually, You might see if there is a problem with a firewall and connecting with steam. With mine I have to turn off the PC firewall and only use the router firewall. (Haven't configured it yet)

you guys must be one of the lucky ones, since I read all over the steam forums that ICS is incompatible, I don't know if it is the fact that the computer running ICS has windows 98SE on it or not, but something is making it so I can't connect to servers like TV6. Connecting directly with the modem allows me to connect, but I can't keep it setup like that. _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. Maybe I will eventually. |
