Im having problems with pop-ups!!!!! After going to that ROFLCOPTER website and letting it install something. I've ran adware and it only comes up with the cookies of the popups. Is there anything I can do to see where it installed it and delete the program? _________________ for Blue |

I found that ad-ware works well with the default install, but kicks A$$ with just a few setting changes.
After updating to the latest file click on the gear at the top for settings.
Under the scanning button check to scan IE favorites and check to scan your host file.
Then go to the tweak button
Under cleaning engine check automatically unregistar the programs.
Then when you go to scan instead of a "smart system scan" use the custom scan option. _________________

thats good in theory but it doesnt work. somehow websites install shit on their own. my co-worker just formatted his laptop and installed windows. after 15 minutes he had spyware.
make sure you have all the updates to windows that are out there, because there are alot of vulnerabilities if you dont. even still, that doesnt always work. if you use firefox, you have no problem. that what i use and ive NEVER had a popup (unless i clicked on a link for it to popup) that i didnt want or anything ask to install. its great. long live mozilla!!!! |

I think in my reply to that post I mentioned that I wouldnt run it due to some "search engine optimizer" it wished to install or similar.
Chances are your browser has been hijacked, there are a few options I will suggest.
First, check your add remove programs for various questionable installed programs and remove them. That hopefully will be the root of all your evils.
Next, download Spybot from the link that Simpleman posted, make once you install it that you get all its updates, then try that for cleaning your system.
Last, if you have gotten the CWS toolbar and crap, this link may help you.

If not then read here about browser hijacking and see if it helps.

I also agree with others, ensure your OS is patched, visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get all your updates.
Also, install a firewall and find out what applications on your PC are going out, I like Zonealarm, the free version mostly because it does tell you what is trying to access the internet and you can choose to allow the application to go out or not.
Good Luck sir. _________________
