a couple of people have been asking how to do this. there are many ways you can go about it but if you're looking for a place to start i'll direct you to to a little tutorial i wrote on my clan's webpage a while ago:

http://votedukakis.recongamer.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=181

this will guide you through the basics of going from demo to having an actual video clip, and doing it right. adding audio and stringing multiple clips together requires more software and effort though. if anyone needs help with this, just ask

note: the basic principles will work for any hl mod, not just dod

Awesome. That sounds pretty simple actually, I'm just not sure if I have enough remaining hard drive space for all of those BMP's. I heard you need like... 30 gigs for an eight minute video (until you convert them).

yeah it can take up alot of space, but you can get around it by making a few clips at a time and encoding them, then you can erase the bmps and make more. a 15 second clip uncompressed might be like 500 mb large or so, but if you encode it with xvid the same file will only be like 12 mb or something much smaller. then you just save your short xvid movies and when you have a lot you can put them together and re-encode the whole movie

Sounds fun. Maybe I'll do one when I'm really bored...

Becareful, when you re-encode. Because when u encode the same clip into a larger one, the quality suffers suvirly (sorry bad spelling). This is why they say keep the uncompressed avi's and add them together at the end so the quality does not suffer.

yes this is true. alternatively you can encode the clips in a lossless codec such as huffyuv (which ive been doing lately) for better results. for the average movie maker tho it wont hurt the quality too much especially if you dont have a huge hard drive.

The script is brought to you by the letter "Q".

the crosshairs i actually use ingame is a red dot but it doesnt show up well in movies. both of them come in the same sprite, the official CAL custom xhair pak:

http://www.netdod.gamerpc.net/X.zip

my config is a little strange i use "x" as "slot2" and mouse wheel up for previous weapon. so right after i shoot w/ kar or sniper i usually hit x right away and then wheelup to get back to main weapon. q works just as well its personal preference.

also do you use "hud_fastswitch 1" ? if this is on you can hit the pistol button and go right to it instead of it giving you a prompt.

Hey Rizzo, what program do you use for video editing? Premiere, pinnacle studio, something else?

Thanks.
