It is a sad day for America. President Ronald Reagan has passed away at the age of 93. In my opinion he is the greatest president we had ever had. I have studied Reagan's life myself and have always found it of interest. He was a true American Patriot. I will surely miss him along with the rest of America

Very sad indeed. He had been suffering from alzhimers for about 10 years. After Reagan we haven't had a really good president. I played a little with RIP Ronald Reagan. Let's all go out and win one for the Gipper. |

Reagan ruled and we saw the fall of communism everywhere but San Francisco. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Yes it is funny how the president that dropped the cold war on its tired old ear, was also the Governor of California. Now the most communist state in the union....

When someone is in pain or suffering, it is not sorrowful when they pass on to a better place. Today should be a day of remembrance of a great man and rejoicing that he is eased of his burden.
Reagan was the perfect president in his time. He brilliantly restored patriotism in America when faith was dwindling. _________________

Well I just got home from D.C (which is 17miles from my house) and I waited in line 5hrs to pay my final respects to President Reagan. I started in the line at 10:30pm and got out of the Capital at 3:30am, it was worth the wait. If ya have any questions feel free to ask.

what was the mood of the people in line? somber as in that he was dead or more upbeat with talk of what he did and how he did it? _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

While everyone was in the long line we all seemed to be pretty upbeat, people joked told stories etc, alot of people looked pretty tired as well. But once we got inside the capital especially in the rotunda there was dead silence and just a look of au among people. It was something that you will never forget.
thanks for the question roof _________________

I watched the funeral last night.
Crazy to think that carriage is the same one used from Lincoln to Kennedy. It's all locked up underground until it needs to be used.
I think the saddest part about seeing it all was seeing the horse with the backwards boots on it.
The honor guards did a fantastic job. Even though they train endlessly for that sort of thing, they still have to be nervous. It's the president after all.
Sad stuff. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Strange how we get differnt information when elsewhere. It is usually said around here that Reagan's presidency put your country in trouble economically, and some other aspect too. Moreover, it is also recognized here that Clinton was a good president, and to read that Reagan was the last good one surprised me. _________________ PJ --- ancient IDIOT with a rusty CROWBAR....

Kinda surprised me too. Reagan did put a lot of stress on the economy however there were benefits that came out of it. Personally I thought Clinton did a great job as well. _________________

You have to understand the the economic ramifications of the actions of presidents are not immediate. Some people would argue that the prosperity that the US experience in the mid 90s was a result of Reaganomics, or that the economic downturn in the early 2k years was a result of the improper regulation of the technology business sector during Clinton's presidency.
I, however, am not an econ prof so I wouldn't know.... |
