Anyone have advice for trying to end-around a firewall. (Legally, of course .) I'm having trouble at the school I'm at for the summer--it's my 2nd year here, and last year EVERYTHING was wide open, but now it's down to http/ftp-only, near as I can tell.
I can connect to Steam (after a couple sec wait) but can't view the server stats (players/maps) for my favorites, or even generate the list of servers that aren't already in my favs.
If anyone knows about the technical side of Steam... port numbers, etc. it might help me in my fight. I'm here doing research, and might be able to convince them I need access to some specific ports in order to "work effectively". (Which will be entirely true, b/c if I don't get my fill of TV daily, I'm sure I won't work effectively.) If someone could track down the prev thread on running DoD outside of Steam (I'm lazy) that would be good to try, too.
Anyways, anything else you guys know to try would be appreciated. _________________ -EvilGenius V$^PK

You have to be a supporter to get it. |
