D-day is one of those events in not only U.S. history but world history that defined who we are.....how well our army could be mobilized, Hitler had no earthly idea D-day was going to happen. He had an inclination that it was going to happen somewhere else but no idea it would happen where it did and after the battle he was amazed at how well we tricked him and mobilized. I have read countless accounts, books, and watched actual footage of the remarkable accomplishment and it amazes me everytime. If anyone ever wants to read some fantastic stuff on D-day pick up Stephen Ambrose's (my favorite historian) Americans at War, which among other great accounts has an account on how he views D-Day and how it could be kept a secret, or you can pick up his longer version of D-day (D-day June 6, 1944) which is an entire book and stretches about 900 pages i believe...both incrediable. Anywho as you can tell i am pretty into WW2 history and D-Day.
