Mic wont work

ok my bro was on my computer yesterday while i was at a friends house and he said he fixed my computer. well now when i try to use my mic ingame it doesnt work the little mic that should pop up in the lowwer right hand corner doesnt even show when i press my alt(open mic) key. so does anyone have a clue what this could be...btw he said he was working with my msconfig if that helps anyone

another thing when i go to test my mic in the menu it doesnt work also....

make sure that it is plugged into the correct jack, and beat some info out of your brother to find out what he did to your box.

make sure your mic is a PCI slot mic, if it is a ISA slot mic, hl will not pick it up.
