Complete BS. The bear would have torn the kid to shreds and then some. The story also mentions this kid running around with a bear bite underneath his ribs...sorry, but if a big hungry bear bit you anywhere on your torso, you're not going to be moving very fast or very far.

Quote:
The boy punched the bear again, and again she let him go, but chased him around a nearby stand of trees. He eventually remembered an air horn in his gear, and blew it in the bear’s muzzle, waking others in the camp...

Uhhh...so he decided to grab his gear before being chased by the bear through some trees? Or is it common thing to sleep with all your gear, even your handy dandy airhorn, attached to you? BTW, running automatically marks you as prey to the bear, and blowing an airhorn in its face is only going to make it madder. The only thing that sounds like it would have actually made the bear think about going away was the flare. Fire scares any and all animals

And did this guy not scream or something? Screaming generally wakes other people up as well...as does loud bear noises...

But of course it's bs. Heres the real clip and this is fact. I should know I was there.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A 15-year-old boy on a wilderness expedition for emotionally troubled youths woke up to find a 400-pound goat with a bad attitude sitting at his feet.

The bear just woke up. Maybe he was tired...
