|
|
I've got a problem with my latency times in DoD, its been like this for 2 days now. On my server list (in game and with the all-seeing eye) everything appears normal and it consistently shows times around 40-70ms, but when I join a server I am getting more like 400-600ms. I've had the network here at school get all backed up before and been unable to get a fast connection, but then the server list reported the same bad latency times too. I've scanned, defragmented, and everything I can think of and nothing is going wrong with my computer as far as I can tell, so I have no idea where my problem is coming from. Does anyone know what the problem might be and if I can do anything about it? |

One of the recent updates by steam set everyones Rates to 1500. Next time in game type rate and see what your number is. If its below 7500 Id say raise it some. Really, most the time broadband can just be set to 9999 with no problems. |

Also in the last steam update, for some reason they set the connection sppeed default to 14.4k. Took me a few days to fqure this one out I was getting high ping and alot of choke and all my settings were the same. Go into steam settings, internet, connection speed and check what its set at if its 14.4 change to your connection speed mine was DSL made a world of differance, no choke and back to my normal ping. _________________

ya, setting it to 14.4k messes up your rate settings. Thats what got goofed up. Best thing is once you get it running the way you like, set your config.cfg to readonly then they cant hose any of your settings with thier crappy updates. |

In keeping with the logical nature of computers, without changing any steam settings the problem seems to have fixed itself. Go figure. |

Correction, it fixed itself for about 3 hours and then it came back. |
