Does it need a password or can you just leave it blank and hit OK? Also, is it a full page welcome screen or just a dialogue? _________________

Did you right click on the volumes that have the hand under it, select properties from the menu, and turn off all sharing associated with it?? _________________

??? not sure what you mean here. but the sharing is turned on on the whole drive...
No the computer is not required to have a pw to boot up.
most of the computers cant even see it. and the rest get a pop up password required window...about the size of the posting window. _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering. |

Right click the folder you are sharing and then the permissions. make sure everyone can read/full control whatever you want the permissions to be.
if they are prompted for access, try with the username of guest and a blank password. |

Roof.
What OS are the other PC's running? Both XP and Windows 2K can have sharing issues with 95/98 and ME. Also no win 95/98 machine can use a printer that is attached to a Win2K machine as there are very few printers that have a driver that will work with both OS at the same time.
I had to convert all my Pc's to WIN2K to share my new HP all in one printer on the network. _________________

Do you have simple File Sharing enabled? if so disable that on your XP and other pcs if there XP to.. Youll see that option in your Folder Options.. If your problem is you cant see the server through network neighborhood try mapping by IP instead.. Or just try exploring Network Neighborhood by IP to.. Like this:(Address bar of explorer)
This should show all the shares it has...
\\192.168.0.1\
Or to get to the share:
\\192.168.0.1\Share
Also, Ill assume this is a workgroup, so make sure on the computer you Created the Share that you have accounts built for each user that will attempt to access the share..
IE:
SERVER has the share:
PC1 has roofcutter logged on to a local account, make sure there is a roofcutter account on the server with the same password, and make sure he has access to the share.
PC2 has killerroofcutter logged on to a local account, make sure there is a account for killer on the server with the same password, and make sure he has access to the share. |

To get printers to work for win9x machines, you can add the drivers on the win2k/XP machine. Under the "sharing" tab, click additional drivers. Usually, you'll have to download the win9x drivers, and then go into the properties of the printer you want to share on the "server"... choose the win95/98 option, and point to the downloaded files. |
