Well the error " Steam has caused an error in STEAM.DLL
is back and yes I've deleted my clientregistry.blob thingy.

yell and scream F STEAM and do an ancient rain dance while covered in mud paint on top of your desk...cross all ur fingers and toes....and hope steam arbitrarely decides to work again....thats what ive done everytime....so far so good

uninstall and re-install and its fine again. Cant believe there isnt a easier solution though

i have to agree, out of all the things ive tried to get steam not to crash, this works the best.
