cant connect

hey ive tried to connect to ur servers but it always tells me ive been timed out or an error or something. i dont have any problems with other servers just theville ones. i need to get back on theville cause its like 8967683274 times better than every other srver so i dunno... help would be great.

Good luck with that Seele.

I've tried over and over again to fix the timed out issue with no luck.

There just isn't a fix out there yet.

It seems odd that out of all the regs we got here that only 2 have mentioned this problem. I wish I had a solution for you guys.

It sits in precache for a minute or so then. .

Disconnected: Connection to server Timed Out. Or something to that effect.

just a lil insight this happens to me on "some" maps when im running software mode and the map can only be played in open Gl... once i change my video settings i can connect no problem....

Shut Steam down and make these changes:

rename/delete the file called custom.hpk (there is one in all root game directories)

open confgi.cfg/userconfig.cfg and make these changes:

edit: cl_timeout 750
add: hpk_maxsize .3

Try this see if it helps.

I will look for some more fixes as well

I would copy it to your decktop or folder or where ver you would like to put it then delete it that way you can always put it back

You might just try to chane cl_timeout first to see if that helps as I just looked at mine and it's default is 60 but I have no problems connecting

well... no problem connecting to the servers now... only thing is whenever it goes to change maps i get timed out or something and a message pops up that says something like 'connection lost during level change.' and it does that on every server not just the ville ones. its done that since yesterday (when i first installed and played on steam) and i thouhgt it would go away but it didnt... please dont tell me ill have to reinstall steam cause i had no problems with it until i started playing games.
