Hey guys,
If my friend bought a copy of Windows XP Home Ed., is he allowed to install it on as many machines as he wants that are his? or do you have to buy a whole new one for each machine? Thanks for ur help! |

I'm afraid not.
Your friends purchase is only good for one installation.

actually microsoft deleses its cd key database every 6months but i dont know when the 6months is up.
cuz someone told my bro this and he waited a little after 6months to try to put my xp cd on his machine and it worked _________________ R.I.P. Blue |

One machine, one installation of Windows XP. In fact, if you need to re-install at a later date, you may have to contact customer support to validate that it is the same computer. Usually that only happens if you add new hardware to the computer before the re-install. |

mine ( not this system) was isntalled from a friends CD. how ? i dont' know but he said he got it back in college from a teacher who said since it was a schoool copy it could be used 100's of times. he is from austraila so i dont' know if thats a difference at all. so as far as i know they can be used multiple times. _________________ |

You can contact MS customer support and buy multiple license agreements.
Basically, you're buying CD keys. I have no clue what the additional licensing fees are for home computers. Our business systems only received about a 30% reduction in cost for each additional CD key. |
