I was thinking about renting a TFC server, which would probably be a Ville server.  A good 22 player public server I found went for $88. I was wondering if there was a place where I could get one cheaper.
Also, if anyone else wants a TFC server, we could share the cost and you could have full admin access on it. So what do you guys think? 
Does TheVille need another server?

probably not at the moment, lets fill the ones we have before getting more.

At $88 the server probably wont be too great, just letting you know. A decent private server at 20 slots runs about $80. A decent pub will probably run in the high hundreds.

I guess I could make it the TVR server. It would be a private server with about 12 slots. I found one like that for about $30/mo.

Prices for dedicated, managed and colocated servers are so cheap right now its unreal, hopefully rcon and some other game server providers will realize this and follow suit with a price drop. For about 100 UD/month you can get a 2.4 GHz P4 with a 40G Hard Drive and 512 Meg of Ram. It comes with 1000 GB/month Bandwidth.

How much bandwith do you need to run a 20 slot pub server? What are TheVille servers running on?

20 slot will use on a TFC server about 110kb/sec upload. Download is usually about 1/3 of your upload on a game server.
When my ET server was running, and staying full most the time it was uploading about 3.5-4gb of data a day.
TFC was about .9-1.2 gb a day. |

So it looks like I'm going to get it tomarrow. It comes with AdminMod on it so that should save some time. I guess all I would need is the config files from another server to make all those things show up and stuff.
