Well, two years ago I got a Dell. I haven't had any problems, but I think they're a little pricy. If you can't build one on your own, and don't mind paying top dollar Dell isn't all that bad. You dont get those annoying advertisements like on almost everything you find at best buy, and its customized to your specifications (to a dagree).

Sum it up: High prices, No ads, reliable, specified to what you want.

It's just a more expensive home built computer to me, without the home building part.

Lol other than their TV host being a pot head? . Im going to go as close to home built as I can - NCIX has good prices but I dont trust sending all those parts across the country so Im getting them to build it for me. My cousin bought a dell and hes not stoped raving about it... Really pisses me off. I keep telling him that its better if you build it yourself but he doesnt listen.

I have a Dell and it's pretty nice. Works well and it's customized to how you want it.

Dell is prob ok, my buddy works in an IT department and absolutely hates thier laptops.

If ya can build it yourself, your going to be better off. You get way way more for your money.

Dell sucks. They use low end hardware and leave out the important details in there advertising. I make a living off showing people thge difference between dell and local pc shop machines. Plus all the crap they preload on there box's pisses me off...

I think for someone who doesnt want to spend their time building and troubleshooting their machine, the dell with a 2 year replacement plan is the best. I have heard nothing bad about dell only great things. They are extremely reliable.

Ugh, I used to have a Packard Bell. It gave me soo many problems; it made me the technician I am today. Heh, I love being able to diagnose and fix any PC.

this computer originated as a dell, about 2.5 years ago.relatively they are high priced comapred to what you can piece together yourself, but after working at wal-mart and seeing all of the pre-maed ones there, the hp, the compaq and the vaio's and everything the dell i had dind't seem so bad. all thats left of the original dell though are the cd/floppy and some cables but it gave me a fairly nice start through the process, and if you check out the refurbished stuff you can get even better deals

hmmm well, i go with compaqs...but that cuz of the govt....come to think of it....ive never bought any of my computers...the government buys them for me!!!! isnt having a dad working for intelegence great???? i mean just earlier this month he HAD to spen 20 million dollars on computer stuff and the like...or it dissapears....so what does he do....buys a laptop with 2 gHZ 1 gig ram and a hard drive that would put desktops to shame. then the 40 inch plasma flat screen in his meeting room with a comp that makes alienware look like a commodore...and we all wonder where our tax dollars go to.....and various other things like stabilizing binoculars and LAPTOPS ALL AROUND!! they ahnd them out like candy....and they still had about 5 million left over

anyhoo...ya i love compaq...though there tech support sux more than hoovers. thats why i do my trouble shooting...philosophy...if it doesnt work the first time...yell at the computer....if it still doesnt work reboot...if it still doesnt work...yell at computer while whacking it a few times....yep..thats my skilz of trouble shooting

yeah that type of trouble shooting didnt work well with my cell phone. It wasnt working one day so i got pissed and started hitting it off of stuff. Like i was driving and trying to call someone and it didnt work. So i started smacking it against my steering wheel. Then when i got to the hotel i tried calling again and it didnt work. So, i smacked it against a table. I now have no screen on my cell.

*edit* oh yeah i'm really not a violent person.
