Ok, i have Sbc Dsl. its very fast and reliable. when i test download speed i get 900+ usually... but when i play steam all the servers have ping of 200+, and when im in a game i play 400+.. but thats only for me.. i got to my friends house would get DL speed of 150 =/... and the same servers come up at 40-100 ping, and game plays at 60-100 ping.. even on european servers.... anyone have tips for tweaking connection? or programs or any kind? all help is appreciated... >

That would help. Also, are you talking about latency here or real ping? If it's latency, then your computer is a factor in this.

lantency, and lantencyis bad for all mods w/ steam... and even when im searching servers on desktop w/ steam.. most of servers are 200+... i remember before on cs1.5 i had good ping of about 60, im useing a speedstream modem and a MSN router with DMZ enabled...

oh, and since lantency is based on comp. spec.. my comp is athlon 2200+, 512 MB 33mhz ram, asus nforce 2 mobo, radeon 9500+pro 128mb...

I don't know anything about how Steam works, but post your cl_rate, rate, cl_cmdrate, and cl_updaterate and I will try to help you tweak those. It still might help to say what mods your playing.
On a side note, ever since Steam, I saw an overall improvement in a lot of people's latency, including mine. My computer's a little better, but I have SBC DSL also.

333mhz.. sorry was pressed for time when i wrote that... and i dont think 33mhz ram has been around the past 5 years....
