Well GG to the idiot who was sitting in left field when Moises Alou tried to make the play in left field. Disagree all you want, but that fan costed the Cubs that game. Baseball is just as much of a mental game as it is physical, and what that fan did broke the Cubs mentally, costing them the game. I was hoping it would be a Cubs-Red Sox series, now it looks like neither of them will get in

If Alex Gonzalez fields an easy inning ending double play. There's no discussion over this. They STILL could've gotten out of the inning with the score tied. They didn't...

The Curse is Alive and Well apparently.

Don't get me wrong, if that tool had been paying attention, then maybe that inning would've gone a bit diferently. On the other hand, there are certain expectations made of "World Series" quality teams, one of them being that they can stay focused mentally and use any situation to their advantage. Sure, the guy should've kept his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his coat, but he didn't, that didn't score the malins 8 runs in one inning, it was the pitching, and the lack of fielding on behalf of the cubs, in addition to some nice hitting by the marlins. If the cubs really want to win this series, they now have to prove they have what it takes, it's not enough for them to think they deserve this on account of not having gone to the W.S. in 58 some odd years. Lots of people don't get the things they deserve, it's called life. Baseball is no different.

That guy probably deserves a smack to the back of the head, but I'm sure he's been giving himself that all night. Kudos to the ballpark management for getting him out of there before any hotheaded fans could take their frustration out on him.

A team is weak and pathetic if they let a play like that ruin them while still leading 3-0. The Cub fans who solely blame a fan are sad.

You guys don't realize. Most Cub fans at the game (and the ones with seats like that) usually aren't "true" Cub fans. The people in those seats are yuppies who don't know the game of baseball and probably don't even know the Cubs starting lineup. Ask guys like Silver, Danno, and Rick Krispies. A lot of Cub "fans" really aren't. Those "fans" don't have a clue about baseball except that Wrigley Field is the happening place to be seen. So you get a tard who stupidly goes after a catchable foul ball. You would never see that in New York, Boston, or the southside team in Chicago. White Sox fans just beat up the umps and opposition. The Raiders of baseball.

That still is no excuse for Prior to go five hole on Bako and for Bako to not block it. No excuse for Alex Gonzalez to bobble a inning ending 6-4-3 double play.

IF and WHEN the Cubs choke. This will be worse than Leon Durham in 1984 doing Buckner before Buckner did it in 1896, Will Clark in 1989 NLCS, or the Mets overtaking the Cubs in 1969 to win the NL and the World Series. You Cubs fans better pray that the Cubs do not blow a 3-1 lead in the NLCS and lose the last two games at Wrigley to a team that had no business being there. You know the curses are still in effect if both Boston and Chicago get eliminated on the same day.

Florida vs NY...so much for the ratings

Frag, you hit the nail on the head.

But let's let the teams decide who goes to the series, not curses

ya i wouldnt be suprised if he got shot and no one did anything to stop the shooter, and i agree i hate fair weather fans "oh look how cool i am im a fan of a team who i cant even name their lead off batter and has a chance at the world series" was like that down here in SMIB country when the ravens were going to the superbowl "OH NO!!! Redskins sucked again this year...<looking around looking around> UH......GO RAVENS!!!"

Being a big cubs fan here I agree.. this has nothing to do with the fan. The team should have taken care of business after the play.. and.. they didn't. Prior walked the batter after that play, Gonzales dropped the ball, and the bullpen was horrible.

The reason why the Cubs lost yesterday wasn't due to history or some curse. It was failure to execute.

Well the identity of the person is now national news. I know him.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2003/news/story?id=1638663

He played baseball on a travelling team with my younger brother. The Chicago Sun Times was looking for my brother to make a comment about him. He didn't return the call.

The sad thing is that a sporting event is gonna ruin his life if the Cubs don't win game 7. I still don't see why Cub fans blame the guy. The Cubs were leading 3-0 at the time.

I just bet the Marlins at the casino just in case. They are +190.

Well he works where I do, Hewitt Associates and a few months ago I had to help this guy with a support issue he was having. HR told him to stay home today and our security department had to deny access to some guys trying to get into his building that didnt even work at Hewitt. I hope the cubs win tonight if for any reason this guys life is not unjustly ruined.

Edit who are the freaking idiots that publish this guys name? They might seriously be putting his life on the line for doing that, and whats the god damn point of putting where he works anyways? That has absolutely no bearing on what happened in the game, I wouldnt be supprised if there was some sort of lawsuit resulting this.
