Hopefully this is an easy problem...

I'm getting typically around 45fps now. I got 70+ with WOn version of TFC.

My config is still the same:
fps_max "72.0"
cl_updaterate "40"

etc.

I don't anything about my config has changed. Computer is exactly the same. If I start up WON version => 72, steam version => 45.

Anyone have any ideas?

System Specs?

if your running an ATI card make sure the npatch is set to 0 in your config.cfg. For whatever reason they enabled it again in this update.

What does that affect? I have an ati card but run at 85 fps(my refresh rate and I have vsync enabled)

I believe its for truform, and some of the ati cards get affected and some dont. I believe the newer ones dont cause I didnt notice any difference really with it on or off. But I know my old 7500 series radeon got affected terribly by it.

My system specs are the same as when I was getting 72fps before:

1.4Ghz
512M RAM
NVidia GeForce 32meg card (can't remember exact one)
etc...

I noticed I had to reset my video options from the 800X600 default to the 1280X1024 that I like when I first started steam TFC. Is there a setting that may not be in my config file? Or maybe something in my config that got reset when I loaded up steam?

I was on Blown's server briefly last night, and even though my ping was ~80, the game looked all choppy.

It's been so long since I tweaked any of my settings (because I had them where I liked them) that I can't remember what to try to change.

Suggestions or links to tweaking would be appreciated. Thx!

My comment on Steam is they are complete morons. Lets see, unban everyone to switch to new ID's. No way to convert ppl to add back in. Then, by all means, dont have the anti-cheat up and running for most mods so all those damn cheaters are let back in on all servers without any detection what so ever. GFJ Valve. Not only that, I still get internet disconnections. I cant log into games like last night to police my own server cause of a suspected cheater. Top that off with the servers have an issue with spectating and server crashing (Why TV6 has no specing) so you cant even record a damn demo of the new cheater for proof.

So what has Steam giving me that I didnt have before.

1) A Friends network that is anyones guess if its going to be up today. (AIM seems to work much better)

2) A browser for servers (ASE works much better since I can filter out all my games and not crash my internet connection by refreshing the list)

3) Showing ppl playing (Again ASE does that)

4) Better in game graphics (Could of done that without Steam)

5) Auto Updates (The only thing I like about Steam)

I will admit I only played for a little while but I don't see where the graphics are any different. The only real difference I see is the funky font. What am I missing?

i agree...i dont see a graphics improvement either. i am using a 64meg gforce 4 card. mebbe my graphics are as good as they get.

then again...i have no f***in idea how to set steam up.

anyone know where to set developer 1? i'm told that allows "echo" text to be printed on screen.

on the sparky thang...theres another hook...LoKiGL...its an openGL hook that is not susposed to get picked up by VAC (valve anti-cheat).

it has many of the sparky features...and is NOT a cheat. anyone tried it yet?

Make sure you enable 32bpp color on the video tab of the game options screen. The game looks more vibrant and colorful. That seems to be the only difference in visual quality that I have noticed.

I have only tried this on DOD...I can't say if TFC has the same options...although I do not see why it would be any different.

I noticed a change in graphics. They looked much better for TFC.

To set developer 1 put it in your userconfig.cfg(make it if you don't have it) in your tfc folder just as you would any other command.

I for one won't try any of these hooks since VAC just might someday pick them up and I don't want to get banned from all vac servers(sometimes up to 5 years).
