Does anyone else have Comcrap, and experiencing the same trouble as we have here in Portland? Literally, the connection dies every 5 minutes, and stays that way for about 20 seconds or more. It's really annoying when you're trying to download something or playing TFC/DoD/NS and you lag out and someone kills u, and it keeps on timing out because those "geniuses" at Comcrap can't figure out how to get rid of a virus, and I quote...

It's been this way for about a week, and frankly I'm getting sick of it. This post is for all those people who pay good money for fast Internet, and get half-ass service
COMCRAP =
P.S. Does anyone know of any DECENT cable/dsl providers that have relatively the same download rate as Comcast? (i.e. 200 k/b a second) _________________

My parents in Chicago have been through two company buyouts. Talke about a mess. First they signed up with Chicago Cable who was the Calbe TV provider. They were bought out by AT&T. So they now have AT&T for the TV and Net. Comcast then buys out AT&T's Net. So in two years they've had three companies for the same service.
Here's the reason why Comcast, Cox, Sprint, and the SBC tech support services suck.
I went to a job fair for Cox Cable (too many easy ways to insult this company's name) last week. Basically the company's bottom line of course is time management. Their techs only get a certain amount of time to resolve an issue. So if that tech doesn't get you off the phone in an appopriate amount of time. They get written up. Many situations require more than a level 1 tech who actually knows what he or she is doing. However the goal of the level 1 tech is to "diagnose" within two minutes and get you off the phone. Otherwise, the call center manager's "numbers" won't meet quota.
Now you all know that most level one techs are dumber than dirt. Some techs almost sound like they are reading directly off the script itself. I bet Killer Roofcutter, Kazebari, and any other pre teen can run circles around some of the level 1 techs at these places. Now you know that they aren't going to get many truly "qualified" techs for level 1 positions. Real techs are much too overqualified for the pay of a level 1 tech. Hense the bottom line of profit for these companies. The level 1 tech doesn't make very much and gets put under a very high level of stress. I'd be like that guy in that Tech Support comedy thing someone posted about a year ago. Maybe someone still has that.
Bottom line: Does Comcast really have to fix the problem as urgently as you'd like? No, they are probably the only game in town for Cable internet. You might even be under a contract. Basically you are at their mercy. Escalation will only take you so far. Most towns seem to only have a very few choices with who provides their service. You might be lucky to have one cable provider and one dsl provider. In Vegas your choice is basically Cox Cable or nothing. Your limited choice for DSL is Sprint. That place is a nightmare. Workers there have said so since Sprint bought out Centel. I worked for Sprint for two days and that was all I needed to see about the store morale and unrealistic sales goals. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

ive been having the same problem and i thought it was just me so ive been trying to tweak my router and firewall and stuff. but i guess its not just me. the way i see it though is that we pay 40 bucks a month for it, dont you think they could do something about it a little faster. i can understand a few days because my dad has been at work for at least 2 days straight. hes a network administrator and a bunch of other stuff and hes been having a lot of trouble at work so hes there from 9 in the morn to 6 the following morn then he comes home, gets a shower and eats and goes back to work. its pretty rough so i understand how the people working on it have been trying probably for a while but a week and a half is a little rediculous.

Ive been using AT&T/Comcast/whatever its going to be called next month and I havent had one problem in 3 years, my internet has only been available a total of 5 times that I can remember. Its generally not the company but the idiots in your area running it id guess. _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |
