Some things I see was that there isn't any lights from traffic. I also thought the blackout was bigger...

The reason I say it does look doctored is Canada near Hudson Bay. The pic still hows the land there even though there is very limited lights. The area blacked out looks totally black. It should look similar to Canada near Hudson Bay.

the blackout area is a different color black. Pretty easy to see.
