|
|
Hey I found this neat coin in my backyard (i will post picture later if i can) It is from Calico Ghost Town and on one side it says Calico Ghost Town in the middle and around the edge it says " Southern California's Settlers (I think, too much dirt there not to readable) Silver Camp. On the other side it has a picture of a guy with a pitch fork or what ever the hammer pole with a sharp pencil type thingy and a mule behind him and 2 small rocks at his feet and then at the top on the edge it says Calico and then it says on the bottom Ghost Town. It looks like it is Very Very Very Very old... _________________

Well it had to be after the town was abandoned because it says ghost town. I don't know how long ago it was, but that might give you an idea of it's age. Or maybe you can do a search about the town. _________________

Calico Ghost town was a real silver-rush boom town in California.
Now its a tourist stop off the Hwy 15 interstate leading from California to Las Vegas.
I’ve been there a few times. Its kind cool they had gunfights and other stunts going on all day long. On Halloween they have a hanging
I used to have a coin like the one you mentioned.
But again, I'm older then the coin you have _________________

well we think its at least pre 70's. We have lived here since 1974. I have visited the ghost town too as a kid but we did not buy any coins.
It is cool to find. and it seems to be solid copper! _________________ Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

Good thing you guys found it. At my house it would be like
[Me]:"Hey, the wiring's been chewed through. Let's go buy a new wire."
[My Dad]: "Why waste money on a whole new wire, when you can just do THIS? *sticks copper coin between two wire parts, and wraps duct tape around it* Good as new!" |
