If you aren't sure about Linux, I definitely recommend a dual boot setup. I just did this with my old machine and it works fine. I used Mandrake and it was very easy to setup IMHO. But Red Hat is probably just as easy. I went with Mandrake because it sounded like it was more suited to individuals and not just Enterprise workstations. But I could be wrong about that. There is a lot about Linux that I don't know. I thought Mandrake could be made to "see" the NTFS partitions of the drive, but I can't figure out how to do that. It's not a big deal right now, but it'd be nice to share MP3s and stuff without copying them.
And hey don't forget to tell your friend to pay the $700 licensing fee to SCO group.
Okay, if you don't get that joke, you are clearly not a linux weenie.

Edit: Oh and for more info on different Distributions of linux, check out DistroWatch. I don't know the URL, google it. It has info on many, many different distributions. |

There is a program that allows UNIX to see NT, and vice-versa. It may be available for LINUX, as well. I will try and track down the name of it. _________________
