BLAH, last week I had to reformat my hard drive since I basically swapped everything completly out, and I FORGOT to go into the registry and write down my HL CDkey (lost the case sometime ago). Now I have to trek over to Target, wait in line for 35 minutes and chuck out a whole 20 more dollars to buy a new copy of HL, geez life is rough.

Not everyone with a computer is a hacker. Some people still do things the proper way.

I have a second cd-key but not sure if it works. It is from Halflife Initial Encounter which was the first copy of Halflife I bought. There used to be updates for TFC for the original hl and for the initial encounter copy of it. They stopped doing updates for my version around 1.0.0.5 so I had to buy a copy of the original hl so I could continue to play. I may load it when I get another comp and try it just to see

Yeah I dont want to use the key generator for a couple of reasons, 1)only about 1 in 50 keys actually work 2) I dont want to get a key that I try to log in with 3 days later and its in use 3)I dont want to potentially get a WON ID that some cheater or Llama is attached to somehow. Im actually just ranting on my own ignorance because it was on the list I created of things to get off the old OS before the wipe and I still missed it. Please feel free to flame me for stupidity . Ill probably go sometime this week to get a new one, its just one of those things where I dont even play all that much anymore, but just not being able to ATM makes me want to play more, go figure

Actually, HL2 is supposed to be coming on well. There's supposed to be a rumor that they delayed it, but all sites I've checked so far still say it's due for Sept. 30th.
"Vivendi Universal (HL2's publisher) says that Valve is now scheduled to complete the game in time for the holidays.

When Valve announced Half-Life 2 in early May, some were surprised by Valve's firm insistence that the game would be ready to ship on September 30. Today we received word from the game's publisher, Vivendi Universal, that Half-Life 2's release has been delayed until later this year. Without commenting on the delay, a Vivendi Universal representative reaffirmed that the game would ship this year, sometime during the holiday season."

However...

"When Gabe Newell of Valve was asked about the HL2 delay, his response was:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First time I've heard about this
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unless Valve or Gabe make this official, there is no delay of HL2 release. If it's not from Valve or Gabe, it's not official."

BTW, Ultimate Gamer posted cpu requirements for the game
"The minimum system specs are currently targeted at a 700 MHz PC with 128 MB RAM and a DX6-level video card TNT2 etc, meaning you won't need a supercomputer to run Half-Life 2.

But on the machine above don't expect to see reflective water, dynamic shadows and bump-mapped textures. The game running at maximum detail 50/60 fps, machine required for this is approx 1600Mhz cpu, 256 mb ram, GeForce4 Ti card.

In real life you need the best from a new game so I would recommend a 2000 cpu, 512 mb ram, GeForce4 Ti4800 128 ddr or ATI Radeon equivalent.
The more power the better but not essential with this game."
