So I'm trying to setup a system with 4 monitors in a showroom to run a presentation/display thingy. So I've got XP Pro installed, four PCI video cards, and four monitors. I'm hitting walls here and only one of the cards seem to be recognized by the PC.

These are el cheapo S3 Savage IX PCI video cards. Is it a problem with the card (very possible) or do I need a multiple output video card (heaven pls no!), or did Microsoft once again oversell us on something that sounds good but never works (hmmmm, that sounds familiar!)

TIA peeps!

Munk...I'm not sure about what you're trying to do, but you might think about this....

You might want to call them about the 4 or 8 port models, as this is only the 2. But I think that will do what you want, and probably for less than $200.

yeah, ask SHAFT about multi-monitor systems, he helped me figure out what I need to get one up and running, not that I've done it yet, but that is due to sheer laziness and shall be the topic of my new autobiography entitled "Lazy Me", if I ever get started on it.

[edit] Oh wait.... Do you want to have multi-monitor, with like different things on each of the monitors, or do you just want to have the same thing going onto a bunch of different screens? If you do just want to have morescreens of the same thing, then Sharkbyte's product'll work[/edit]

Are you having IRQ problems? You may be putting too many things on your computer. you may need a MATROX type card that may use less IRQS

Are all the cards working?

It should work. you are right clicking on your desktop/ properties/ setting/ advanced/and going to the monitor section and extending your desktop onto the new monitor right??

Spend teh money on a quad head card. It will save you so much hassle and the software they come with make it so much eaiser to use and make look like you want.

Thanks for all the info guys! I'll have to look into all those options! As of now, I guess the best bet is the quad setup. I was also having IRQ, driver, etc issues. Just don't have the time to spend troubleshooting it all day.

are you trying to mirror the displays 4 times or have it as one huge display? if if you want it all as one youll probbably need some software or drivers or something, mine did for 2 monitors (but ended up being too much of a pain in the ass so i put the crappy monitor in the attic yay!)

or just get a 4-out card hehee
