No! not car advertisments on theville, but on television. Has anyone else noticed that in a 30 minute period of time on any given television channel every other commercial is for a frikin car?
Buy a chevy, buy a ford, buy a KIA, son of a biscuit eater!!!! enough with the car ads. I know the car manufacturers are hurting but they are only going to make things worse by purchasing more television time with the lower and lower quantity of orders for new vehicles.
Come on guys face it the economy is in the hole and selling more cars is not going to bring us out of the reccession. I hardly watch television anymore since I am always playing at TV(LOL), but I am sick and tired of looking at people marching across the screen telling me that I could get a new 2003 vehicle with 0% apr for 60 months and yadda yadda yadda.
My car is paid for and I don't plan to buy another one until it quits running. I sometimes wish the government had never bailed Chrysler out of bankruptcy... I am sure the folx that work for them would beg to differ, but thats my opinion, take it with a grain of salt... _________________ JohnCarter, Warlord of Mars

it was a chrysler ad, but alot of car dealers are doing this now because of the slump in sales. Anything to get a perspective buyer into the show room so they can railroad them into purchasing a car they don't need...
usually they will say 0% apr and then when you get down to the dealership they say, "Oh yah, well we already sold that one, but you can get this one at a low low interest rate..." BAH _________________ JohnCarter, Warlord of Mars

All the car ads I see keep saying...
"No down payment, no payment, no interest for 5 years! This has never been done before!"

The best one is where they get you to go to the dealership for 0% and then you don't qualify. Or the vehicle that you want doesn't qualify for the 0%. There is always a catch of some sort. Dealerships _________________

Another thing i hate about car/suv ads.
They are always bragging "And with this new 4X4 package you will be able to go off-roading anywhere you wish" Honestly now, i say about 10% of the people that buy SUV's are not for off roading, it is to haul their big family around not to climb mountains, get a life dealers. _________________

Actually about 5% use them for offroading. There are some of them I like but I wouldn't buy an suv. When we bought our vehicle it was either an suv or a van. We opted for the van, more room. _________________

I worked at this video production studio a long time ago and these car dealers came in to shoot some stuff for a conference. They were talking about their upcoming ad campaign and how much air time they were buying and how viewers would be totally saturated with the ads which would run for several weeks.
I just kept thinking... And this helps you sell cars?
I guess hard sell works on some people. Go figure.

4x4 are not used for just offroading, they also come in handy when you live with snow and ice for 5 to 6 months of the year. |

No the best you can do is buy a Hummer H1(you have some trouble getting a .50Cal to go on top), the H2 is a little wimpier. Or you could buy an Excursion from Ford. Or maybe an old school bus. |

I think the old school bus will do better on gas. _________________

sad thing is we don't get the cool car ads. i've seen one that they're playing in europe for honda, it's called the cog. another good one i've seen is from subaru, it's played over in australia. man, i'd love to see those on a more regular basis, the commercials we have here are so unimaginative. _________________
