Steve, locate your Autoexec.cfg in your DOD directory and double click on it.. If it asks for a viewer scroll down the list in the window that just opened and pick your<Note Pad>
*Note- You can try this and if it helps you like it did me. Great ! But if not then you can change it back to it's default by just removing the cmds you just added and then reboot.
Copy & Paste these commands to your Autoexec.cfg.
cl_weatherdis 250
cl_minimap 0
gl_cull 1
gl_picmip "0"
gl_clear "1"
gl_smoothmodels 0
s_reverb "0"
s_reflect "0".
precache "1"
cl_himodels 0
Now if you want to avoid cluttering up your box with un-needed garbage such as other peoples spays, mdl, maps you don't play open your Config.cfg that is also in your DOD dir locate these 3 cmds
cl_download_ingame "0"
cl_allowupload "0"
cl_allowdownload "0"
The default is "1" to allow this. If theville is the only server that you play on then you should have all that you need file wise to play here. Change the "1" to "0" to disable this function it will speed things up a bit.
*Note
If you get disconnected cause the server has something that you need just change the two Download cmds back to "1"
<Command Explainations>
cl_weatherdis 250 < --weather makes it so weather is only 250 ft around player instead of the entire map.... <Improves FPS>
cl_minimap 0 <cl_minimap 0 removes the minimap ... more fps >
gl_cull 1 <gl_cull 1 - Setting x to 1 enables the rendering of visible objects only. 0 renders all regardless which should reduce performance. I'd recommend setting this to 1.>
gl_picmip "0" <gl_picmip "x". A setting of 0 for x gives best image quality. Setting it higher (0 to 4) may improve performance but reduce image quality. I’d recommend leaving this at either 0 or 1.>
gl_clear "1" <gl_clear "x". A value of 0 for x fills cracks between textures, 1 makes these visible. 0 is slower than 1, although more pleasing visually.
gl_smoothmodels 0 <gl_smoothmodels "x". Set x to 1 to enable Gourad shading of models for better improved visual quality. Setting x to 0 disables this, although performance may improve as a result. I'd recommend leaving it enabled. >
s_reverb "0" <s_reverb "x". Set x to 1 to enable reverberation effects. This can improve audio quality (more realistic), although performance will be lower. 0 disables reverb, & performance can be improved as a result.>
s_reflect "0". <s_reflect "x". Set x to 1 to enable audio reflections. This can improve audio quality (more realistic), although performance will be lower. 0 disables reflections & performance will be improved as a result.>
precache "1" <precache "x". When x is set to 1 this enables the precaching of textures in Video memory before loading a level. This can improve performance on many graphics cards (In the sense that Textures aren't loaded during a level if the Graphics card has sufficient texture memory), although it will also increase loading time. When x is set to 0 textures are loaded during levels instead, which will improve level loading time, although can adversely effect performance in levels as textures are loaded into Video memory.> (This helped me)
cl_himodels 0 <cl_himodels "x". Setting x to 1 enables higher quality player models when playing network/internet games. 0 is the default, which uses slightly lower quality player models, although performance is boosted as a result.>

Thx for all the help, but a lot of those I don't like because they change the look of the game. I like how it looks and I'm used to lag, so I think I'll keep it how it is other than a few.... _________________

My fps never moves from 60, tfc or dod it stays the same.
I'm gonna try some of those settings Species. I do appreciate you taking the time to write it all down like that. If they don't work I can always remove them _________________

Where would you put the stopsound command so that you don't have to type it in every map. This command has made the biggest difference fro me as far as lag goes. |

Put it in each map's config. Those are the "mapname".cfg files in your DoD directory. Type in stopsound and it will load on every map. _________________

BRN, if your FPS stays at 60 its not your game settings, its your refresh rate on your monitor. I had to download Rage3DTweak to get mine back to 99 again. If you have a nvidia card its a diff program, I think its called reforce something. Just do a search for refresh tweak programs. |
