Well hello to all my friends here at the ville. It's been a long time since I've had any access to computers, let alone the internet, but it has finally arrived, so let me start off by saying thank you all. I've received packages from several of you, and though you may find it hard to believe, it is a huge morale boost to get a package from people you know. Munk, there's going to be a photo for you as soon as I get the chance to take one of me with my lovely 'Ville shirt, and Mr.Kason and Vigilant_e, I have several pieces of statues of Saddam, which just happen to have been destroyed.
Just to let you all know how things went out here. We went to An-Nassiriyah when the war started, and kind of got bogged down in that whole battle. I in fact never got to see any action, though several of my friends did get in a firefight, and one was shot (in the arm, so not bad at all). After An-Nas, we went looking for bad guys in a few more cities, but after the initial conflict in the south, everyone pretty much rolled over. We did have a few pot shots taken at us, but nothing you can really call a firefight. Throughout this whole shindig, I provided my linguistic abilities to whomever desired them, so I spent most of my time rolling around with 2nd Force Recon translating for them. I have met some of the most interesting people out here, as well as heard their stories of life with Saddam. Basically it boils down to the fact that if half of the stories I've listened to are true, he was probably the most sadistic person I've ever even heard of. I met a man whose wife was imprisoned for 14 years because he was a Shia dissident. I met another who had three of his fingers on his right hand chopped off because he was Shia. That was their lifestyle before. Now, at least they have hope.
Right now I am in the city of Al-Kut. I have been here for well over a month now, and will probably be here for at least that much longer. When the powers that be asked for volunteers to stay on and help with things here in the city, I raised my hand. So now I really have no one to blame but myself, I look at it as an investment opportunity. Well, I have to go and see if I can get this stupid Govy computer to work on Hotmail so I can email my family. Take care all, and I look forward to seeing you all again real soon.

Great to hear from you Azrael. I was talking about you with my girlfriend just a few days ago saying that we hadnt heard from you. Good job over there man. Hopefully they wont keep you away from the servers for to much longer.....
