I started out in college as a computer information systems major. But oh god was it ever boring. Know who Pascal is? Who cares. I changed my major to psychology. Then to criminal psychology. Then to forensic psychology.

Know what I learned? You better know what you want to do before you start spending the money.

Other than that. . all I can say is go for the dream. If you are smart enough, and you have the will, you can accomplish anything.

PS. . I ended up with a crap @ss degree in Criminal Justice. . go figure.

Just go with what you want to at the moment. It may seem like a big desicion right now, but when you're 40 years old, you'll probably be thinking almost the same thing. You've got good 40-60 years ahead of you to do what you want to do with your life.

lol...from what i've read of your posts so far..i'd put you down as a terrorist.....so....i think swat would be better than a pharmacist...unless your a druggie....you a druggie?...tut tut......yeah, swat terrorist...there's a difference?....lol

And KRG..thanks...one of the problems though is that i don't know if i'm smart enough....i'm the kinda person that listens to stuff i'm interested in..now my physics course wasn't exactly the most interesting of things...lol...we spent too much time learning about centripetal force...i couldn't (honestly now, i'm not just a lazy slacker...lol) stay fully focused...so as far as being intelligent enough is concerned i don't know... my grades will say no...but i say yes...ugh i dunno

oh and you did computing.....you found it boring?....why?...i was gonna chose the computing course because i can do it without trying...i find working with computers easy....did you find working with computers too repetitive?...thx

Why not work in software design for NASA? You know, combine the two. It sounds lofty, but you never know, maybe you could make it. That's just my opinion anyways.

rang, i'm going into my junior year of college. i've changed my major three times. my first major was computer science (way too math based for me, physics was the factor on that one for me), my 2nd major was computer information systems (i realized that i don't like coding) and 3rd and current major is management of information systems.

my advice? make sure you want to know what major in by your sophmore year. go into college and get your general studies out of the way, but in that time, take courses that would apply towards the major you've initially chosen.

That would be pretty cool...what degree would you suggest though?...software engineering...space tech?...i suppose i could try and add modules from one to another.. i think i get a few modules a year to add to the degree i choose...i'm not sure...more research needed methinks...and you reckon i should aim as high as NASA...that'd be real cool... the more i think about it...the more space tech appeals to me.... i think i've spent too much time with computers...however there's so much more i still need to learn.........hmmmmmm........a mixture....that'd be great......lol....i know computer aided spacecraft design....one porb...
me + art/graphics/designing stuff = ARGGHHHH

bad...lol.... ugh i'm gonna have to go around visiting the uni's again...oh joy..lol

I don't have any advice, sorry, but I think I might actually need some. I still have a long time to think about it, but I was just thinking about it.

I was thinking of designing websites and stuff. I heard it pays alot and I like designing things like websites and stuff. I would make my own business and all that. I know someone who is actually paying someone about $10,000 to make a professional website for selling some computer software. But I just don't know if I can get enough costomers to make enough money.

Oh well, like I said, I still have a long time to think about it.....

if you like math, and you like things that fly, go into Aerospace Engineering, one of my buddies is in it. seems good.

What math courses have you taken so far? If you have finished all of the engineering calculus and differential equations courses in college and still like it - go for it, but many who like math in high school get into Cal 1 in college and then hate it. (I had to complete them all for my engineering degree, but now work in Aerospace Engineering on the F-16 fighter.)

As for space travel, currently you either have to be a really good military pilot with a masters or a flight specialist with at least one Ph.D., more likely two.

As for computer engineering, graphics, game design etc ... well I dont know much about it except for the good courses in computer science at my college were senior level or higher. I mean, why do they have the first graphics course as a senior????

Whatever you decide to do, it is usually very easy to switch majors within the same school while you are in your first year or two without adding extra semesters. Try to get the core requirements such as english and arts classes out of the way while taking courses in what interests you and carry on that way until you decide one of the other.

Good luck
