After going to see my White Sox beat the Athletics last night at the Jail Cell (US Cellular Field.) What are you favorite venues where you've seen a sporting event at? Pick one out of any sport. Also pick a venue you would want to see an event.
My choice US Cellular over Wrigley Field. First off I am a Sox fan. I like US Cell's short lines, the best food in baseball, awesome sightlines anywhere in the lower deck. Wrigley is a shrine. However, I can't stand the yuppies with their cell phones. There was a girl at the Sox/Cub game last year asking us who the Cubs were playing today. Also there's very limited parking near the stadium and the food is mediocre at best. That being said Wrigley is the must visit of the two Chicago stadiums for non Chicagoans.
I think I'd like to see a baseball game at Fenway Park before it goes. I'd also like to go to Pac Bell, Safeco, and Dodger Stadium. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Would have liked to see one at the Boston Garden...

Fenway is a great place to see baseball, however, it does have its drawbacks. If you're a big guy, or tall, like me you may be a little uncomfortable in some of the seats. They tend to get cramped. Also, if you're seated in the right field grandstand, there are a bunch of poles that could block your view.
I must say that the seats on top of the wall are the best seats in baseball. You're sitting on top of a baseball legend, get a fantastic view of the field, and get to catch home runs over the monster! |

As far as ones that I have been to, American Airlines Center(Dallas Mavs and Stars) is pretty nifty and is easy to get in and out of. I would like to go to Fenway before it goes, but I would also like to visit Pac Bell, too |

Well of the three baseball stadiums ive been to, Comisky (will never call it a name as Fing ghey as US Cellular field) Wrigley and Busch stadium in ST Louis, I would have to say that Wrigley Rocks, unless you get a seat behind a pole, and if your in the bleachers expect a huge party and lots of hot chicks (ill be in the bleachers tommorrow :p) I would go with Comisky second, drawbacks tho that park are that its literally 300 yards from the worst area in the city of Chicago, so bring your kevlar if your going to see a game also if your sitting in the upperdeck bring your dramamine and mountain climbing gear as getting up the stairs in the upper deck is like going straight up a ladder, the good thing about that is the Sox never come closes to selling out, so you should always be able to get a seat in the lower level. Then Busch, I think is the worst, for one its ST Louis, and for 2 if you get upperdeck seats there you might as well forget it, its as bad or worse then Comisky, I hope the new stadium is better. Im going to the new Milwaukee Brewers stadium this summer and ill let you know how it is, ive heard very good things.
Soldier Field was the bomb, right on the lake and as your walking up and see those pilliars you just get pumped and want to knock someone out. In the new Soldier Field that opens this year you cant see the pilliars from inside, but the original ones are still on the outside, hopefully it doesnt become a horrible place to watch football like the Oakland colliseum.
Now to my most Hated building of all time. The United Center. Dont get me wrong its a great looking building and the setup is fantastic, however the thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that no matter how loud it is, it still isnt loud in there, the building absorbs noise litterally. I paid 150 bucks to see Jordans last game there this year and during the warmups he had a 5 or 6 minute standing ovation and that place was going nuts but it just wasnt loud, the old chicago stadium was probably one of the loudest buildings in all of sports history, that building would litterally shake at times when the crowd was going crazy. The guy who built that place (the UC), needs to be left at the bottom of lake michigan.
I have also been to the O-Rena (TD Waterhouse center) in Orlando for a Magic game and I must say although small, its perfect for watching a basketball game and easy to navigate, not to mention Orlando has some of the hottest women anywhere, so it gets two thumbs up from me.
Sorry bout the lenght but thats my 2 Drachmas. _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |

The only problem with Cellular field is that you can't watch the cubs play there. You only get the terrible white sox.

LIES
Here's the difference between Cub and Sox fans. First off in Chicago you are NOT allowed to be fans of both teams. Secondly Sox fans don't support losing teams. The moronic Cub fans (there's a differnce between a knowledgable Cub fan such as Silver or the 90% of morons who can't name you half of the starting lineup.) The Sox is the right way imo. I'm not gonna pay money for a losing product. When my team doesn't win, they won't get the same attention as they would by me if they are winning. Sports is a business now and I treat it as such.
I went to Wrigley for opening day against the Mets for '02. The Mets won 3-1. After the game people said at the bar. "We may not have won, but we had a good time." As long as the prevailing attitude of Cub fans is this...which it is. The Tribune Co. won't pay more then they have to. I was at the last game of the Cubs and White Sox game at Comiskey last year. My friends who are Cub fans treated that one win (when they were 20 games out of first) like they broke the curse of the Billy Goat and won the World Series. "We don't care about the season. We beat you today." The 90% of stupid Cub fans ruin it for the few who really know what they are talking about. Shoo and go away.
You can keep the Cubs and the curse of the Billy Goat. Last time I checked the "terrible" White Sox were 15-12. The word "terrible" should be applied to the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers are Mets of '62 bad. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

I am sorry but you being a true fan should know that the white sox are 15-13 and are 2nd in the American League Central. And that the cubs are 16-12 with another win coming today against the rockies (5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd). The cubs are 1st in the National League Central.
All chicago teams are cursed, but I grew up watching the cubs not the sox, and when I moved from Chicago I always got WGN and watched the cubs.
Being in Dallas, Texas I now travel ~300 miles to Houston just to watch the cubs play in the Astro dome.

I haven't seen much in the way of baseball games, two brewers games and a twins game. I've been to both Brewer stadiums, and though the new one is pretty nice, I still liked the old one better. (The Brewers themselves these days are rather embarassing though, probably the first team to ever lose a game by balking in a run!!!!)
Hockey games I've been to: 6 Red Wings games, 2 Wild games, 2 Maple Leaves games, 1 Canucks game (all home games) |

I've been to about 50 or 60 hockey games, all ducks and kings. I've also been to lots of Dodger and Angel games. There is no real rivalry between LA teams :/ _________________ Usually my sig goes here, but who the hell needs one anyways. |

Frag, you have to admit that the Cubs are a solid team. They have very good young pitching in Prior, Wood, Clement and Zambrano. The offense may be so-so, but they have one of the best managers, and are leading a division that also includes the Cards and the Astros. White Sox on the other hand, have the pitiful Tigers, the slumping Twins, and the fluke Royals in their division.
Oh, I of course have to add...
THIS IS THE YEAR, RED SOX ALL THE WAY! |

I'm not a big baseball guy, but I do like going to games. Baltimore's Camden Yards is quite nice for a new ballpark. The food is good and its pretty cool being in the revitalized inner Harbor area. Even though its new, it looks like a classy old ballpark to me.
As for the Cubs, I don't know Frag... I think you have to give some credit to diehard fans who support the team no matter what. I mean I have more respect for someone dreaming the impossible dream than I do for the ones who trash their own hometown when their team WINS!! I mean forget about when they lose, they riot when there is a win?!? I just don't get that. It's why I can't be a Maryland College Football fan, despite how close I am to them.

<--------will still go watch the cubs when its august and were 15 games under .500 on TV none the less. I agree with frag, the downside of being a cubs fan is definetly the fact that Wrigley is the place to be and be seen, therefore you get people there for the ambience and not the team itself. However every game ive been to I can find people around me who know whats going on.. 50% are real fans 25% are the hey look at me Yuppies and the other 25% are tourists. As for the:
Quote: | You cant be a cubs fan and a sox fan |
I COMPLETLY agree with this, I hate the white sox almost as much as I hate the Cardinals, this probably stems from when I was growing up seeing them wearing those ugly jerseys that said SOX across the front then moving to the just as ugly red white and blue cursive jerseys
Then picking out the most popular colors just to try to boost sales, but thats a 'hole 'nother story. My roomate thinks he can be both but I just tell him he is an idiot and to STFU. _________________ Killing is my bidness ladies and BIDNESS IS GOOD!!!! |
