This isn't good at all, but probably won't be too bad as soon as the server realizes it's infected. One of the popups (I assume popups since I didn't have other browser windows open but TheViles.org and I let the popups load to let the ville get money) Anyways one of the popups attempted to patch me with a worm, the new one that logs passwords and keystrokes. I know Nimda worked the same way, you could get infected by viewing a page. My Norton anti-virus auto-protect alerted me that some malicious program was trying to run and patch itsself onto my computer so I had it cancel the action and closed all the windows. I can't say exactly which popup it was since I had about 10 of them in the background.
I'm sure the server that the ad spawns from will correct the problem or are inthe process already, but if you have auto-protect I suggest you run it over the weekend while online.
I'll try to see if it happens again to be able to tell you which one it is.

My Nortons pop-ed on also tonight. I had 3 or 4 other links besides the Ville open when it came on. No evil was found after the scan was done though. It is the first time Norton's has come on for me automaticly> |

Well thats the beauty of Norton's autoprotect, it stops the thing from even being able to get on your computer. I did a scan on my afterwards as well just to make sure that nothing snuck onto it. |

I've had Norton Antivirus 2001 & 2002 find/stop many web sites & pop-ups that run scripts that try to modify the registry. Of course, that was usually when I "inadvertantly stumbled" upon a porn site.
FYI, Symantec/Norton Antivirus Corp Edition DOES NOT BLOCK MALICIOUS SCRIPTS. I asked them why the hell not. They said they are "considering" adding it as a feature. So, if you borrowed a copy from work, stay clean baby. |
