I've noticed that when I play tfc or dod the game is using a lot of CPU, most of the time near 100%. My ping skyrockets to about 2000. Any idea how i can make this stop??

I have no idea what could be causing this, but maybe if you posted your cpu, ram, os specs someone else can help you. Also are you on dial up or on cable?

Not sure about the half-life prob.....but look at the line below it...GMT = stupid Gator spyware bullsh*t. Take a look at the I/O reads and mem usage, pretty high man. I also see another process that I think is spyware....CMESys.exe. You should get rid of these little buggers post haste.

well, dont know about the cpu useage being a prob since mine is around 85-99% and ram is actually runnin at around 185k. Sounds like it may be something else causing a prob. You may have some spyware or a virus killing your connection. I had one not too long ago and would basically make my ping go to 2000+. Go here to have a free scan for viruses.

This might sound stupid, but what exactly is spyware? I know its a bad thing, but I dont know what it is and what it does or how you get it.

As for the problem, maybe if you close a lot of those(not explorer) and it might make your connection better.

ok i closed GMT and CMESys.exe when i play and no matter how much mem hl is using it still uses 99% of my CPU.

I have a mobile CPU 2.00 GHz, 64mb video card, and 512mb of memory. and i have a cable modem. I did a virus scan at that site you gave me blown and therer are no viruses. anyone know what the problem is???

P.S. Thanks a lot for your help guys.

i tried stopping the isass.exe but i says it is critical to operating the system. I ran the spyware, it found some viruses and i deleted them and i still have problems. I tried unistalling half life and then installing it again but that didnt help.
