I've just gotten a new computer running XP, and I've recalled that people have had problems with Half-Life. I was wondering if anyone could give me some help with this? Thanks all.

So far I've had my computer freeze when CS started in Open GL, since I haven't gotten anything else on but my brother's CS.

I run XP and have no HL problems. I run OpenGL, too. In fact, things have been better since I got XP.

Make sure you have upgraded all your hardware with XP drivers. Go to the manifaturer Web sites for everything right down to your motherboard to see if they have XP drivers. It might help.

Same with me as Hoaxie. No probs with HL since I started running XP. Actually, I have had a few problems- only a very few- when I was attempting to start mapping a while ago. But no problems in just normal operation.

Sounds like driver issues to me. Go get them all. Anyone who ever puts XP on a machine should do that for all hardware. Consider that much of the hardware was not made with XP in mind. It is a different beast.

In reply to the problems people had with XP, a patch for Half Life went in a LONG time ago that fixed that. If you're having troubles and you have the most recent patch for half life, it's not xp's fault.
