maaan, so many zooka & pschreck haters in here!! taking the game too seriously if you cant repeatedly pick up one of them and have fun!! its just so great when someone runs out of the wheelhouse on kalt and *BAM!* , gets a rocket to the face. and as for it not killing ppl, i rarely have problems with it...the only real times i've noticed a difference in the present dmg done to the old is when using objects(walls, roofs, doors, ground) to kill instead of direct hits.
I dont think it'll be a problem being its own class, half of you will never make it that far down the "select class" list anyways. _________________

Gawd, these changes can't come soon enough, I can't wait to see how the new lowered view point will change a proner's game. There's one really annoying tactic I've been encountering more and more, it's people who move, prone, wait (and wait), kill, rinse, lather, repeat. |

if they make it so the garand isn't random and annoying I will be happy. at least until they add mortars. then the game may become terrible. just imagine what the ville servers are going to be like when 6 out of 10 players pick mortar, set up by the first flag and randomly bomb the other team over buildings. on the other hand you may be able to counter bomb the other side or even lob a mortar around the usual congregation of first-flag proners which would be funny and satisfying. oh well. _________________ the garand is fixed... horrayzors! |

I would use the Garand exclusively if it hit a chest the same way it hits a back. If that Kevlar Shoulder is ever fixed I think it'll be where it should be.
Mortars won't be out for this release I don't think, they are going to be added maybe in 1.2, not 1.2b (but who the hell knows, they might just skip over 1.2 like they did 1.1). Sounds stupid as hell if you ask me considering that it took three guys to carry those things around in WWII. I don't really know what they have planned, as if there should be mortars in a map like... Anzio. Seriously, that sounds retarded. Maybe the class will only be selectable in maps like Forest or Glider and the like. (maps with mortars already in them). |

Pfff, whiners..the garand roxors my boxors. If I see a garand on the ground, I'll pick it up before I pick up a kar98 or any smg. Just play with it for awhile, and you'll get used to the oddness of the gun. I don't even see the problem with it anymore. _________________

the garand is nice, but it's just not consistent enough. When I play garand I'd say half of my deaths come from shooting people first around the upper chest, having the bullet register as an arm shot, and then getting kard, mged, or sniped. If they fix the hitboxes so this doesn't happen as often it will be a sweet weapon... _________________ the garand is fixed... horrayzors! |

Hey Mr. fixthegarand, you'll like to hear this news:

As soon as we can post a changelog we will.
I can tell you we've fixed all the bad clips in Donner & Chemille and really worked the rubble and other crappy things in Donner. Server util is way down so you'll really notice it (the game is much-much smoother and the servers are on-par with CS util rates)...also...we think we've gotten the garand to a point you'll use it again (the clan guys we're playing with think we got it right). WOO7
Sorry for the tease...but as soon as I can post a changelog I will. We're trying to get things done in the spirit of cooperation and so far so good.
Oh...yea...the mortars and bazookas (Oh my) are like all classes...they can be limited at the server so don't worry. |
Quote: | Let's just say a few quotes from outside players (both clan and non-clan) in testing has been that the weapons feel like 3.1 again...that's not to say they are exact 3.1...it's just with all the netcode utilization goodness and other changes the weapons, on average, seem to be easier to control and use. The quote from the clans testers was, I think, "Hell yes...we'll use the garand in matches now". The dev team made a special effort to include both clan and pub players in testing and the support and advice gotten from both, when applicable, was immediately introduced as a fix/change/add to either a map/weapon/base code.
Some of the low-end testers report increases in fps and EVERYONE says it runs much smoother now. We're seeing solid 20% better server util rates. Look...for sure I'm a Valve fanboy and all...but this release is looking very solid...and should appeal to clans and pub players alike...the guys who have been testing with us recently went back to a 1.1 server to compare and said that it was really hard for them to play because they liked 1.2 so much. So far so good. I expect you'll see a changelog update farily soon.
PS...The K43 buttsmack is all coolness baby...coolness. |
Oooo, new pictures of Flash! They've revamped it so it's less deathmatchy and less dominated by spam nades and MG's.

There are also new Merderet floating around, I haven't been able to find them yet.
