youd need to know your motherboard manufacturer.. such as msi asus intel blah blah check their home page.. if its a package computer check their home page like compaq or dell... soundcard drivers are pretty self explanitory.. sounds like its time for you to pull out the manual and see what you got or pop it open and write down some numbers off the boards _________________

thats ok... check out my delima.. my bios doesnt allow me to specifically assign irq#'s to my cards windowsxp likes to use ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface wich puts just about everything on one or two irq #'s and shares them with the cards.. the problem is my chipset (and older via chipset) doesnt get along with a soundblaster live it wont let it share an irq and run so i would get random reboots and so forth so in order to fix this problem i had to change my computer from acpi to standard computer (done from the device manager, click computer pick acpi, update driver, pick specific driver (standard pc)) reboot (dont do that in win2k cuz it wont boot again youd have to reinstall and specify a standard pc and not an acpi.. after all of that i had to move my two ethernet cards and my soundcard all to different slots (because my bios wont let me point irq #'s) untill everything showed up in the device manager with its own irq# this solved all the crash and reboot problems i had. Pretty complicated huh? dunno why i told you all that but hey i was bored.... _________________
