It's not so much that PCIe sound cards are going to be "OMG TIS SOUND CRD PWNZ!!1!1", but that it is going to be the signal that PCIe is "where it's at", and that more than just video cards are going to jump on the bus. Hopefully, motherboards will realize this, because the most I've seen on a mobo is 3. And I have 7 expansion slots in my case. |
Yeah, I think the X800 series of ATI can already be bought in PCIe. I'll have to see about sound cards, otherwise, I think I'll just stick with the Audigy 2 ZS PCI that I plan on getting. Looks like I may have to update my mobo in about a year.

I was under the impression that the X800's were only in PCIe? Or maybe that's the 850's...
Either way, the point with the sound card comment, is that will be a good indication of when it will be worth the money to go PCIe. And never look back.

Checked ATI's website and it looks to be that the X850's are the PCIe only ones. Ya know, I think I'll wait a year or two until PCIe's gotten big, then I'll hit an upgrade time for my computer.
