My XP2400 with the slk800 runs about 34C idle and 42C full load. Not a noisey fan either. I do have some case fans but they are on stats so I can slow them down to the noise level I desire. Works pretty good.

My OCed 1700+ tbred-b runs at around 52 under full load at 2GHz. My case isnt that well ventilated (cables everywhere and only 3 case fans) and I only have a 2500rpm fan on my slk800.

Corsair is good, great quality but unless you are really looking at overclocking then I would just get some from crucial.

Adding to my list I have

Memory
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-141-424&catalog=147&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0

Case
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-129-122&catalog=7&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0

Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-909&catalog=58&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0

I went with the antec case because they seem to be one of the few with the 120mm fans. This case comes with 1 but I was gonna add the one up front and possibly one of the side - gotta cut to get it to fit.

I want a bigger power supply just because I have always felt that too much can't hurt. I am not sure what this system will need for sure but I am sure that 480w will do it.

Memory I am still a little sketchy with as I am not that up to speed with it. I will be picking up to of the 512 sticks and that should be more than enough. If I am looking at the wrong type of RAM then please steer me in the right direction.

Looks like you're on the right path BRN, I combined all your stuff together and it's all compatable, even the stuff from the last post of parts you did on page one. No it's never bad to have too much power in your power supply, and the RAM you picked is great, it is exactly what you need for what you've previously wanted to pick. It will fit the motherboard you already picked, as will the processor. Here it is in perspective.

The total price of all this so far is: $789.00

You still have to buy the extra fan(s) though, and maybe replace the one that comes with it with a better one. then bore your hole, get a fan grill and add another 120mm to the door. But fans and fans can be bought locally without much price difference if you like.

Well once I tack on the OS -another $200, and a couple more fans - around $13 each, I think I am around the $1000 mark. All I need to do now is wait for my tax return to show up and I should be ordering parts. Hopefully the boss clears this

Hot, huh?

I have the Aspire XDreamer2, which runs cool off its default PS.....and has enough LEDs to land a small bomber.

Oh yeah? those are nice, I've always like the retro future style. But for a real impressive case, stand back, and eyeball this.

BRN, your ram choice is bad. Your paying the big bucks for kingston memory instead of buying generic like us humanoids. It seems to me that if your spending big bucks on your ram you really should get the best that they offer for your bus speed.

Thats a "matched pair" or 512 meg sticks with hyperX. Its wicked fast and will work very well in a duel channel enviorment.

Those cases are a bit much for something that is just gonna sit under my desk. Not to mention the price .

I am now more confused on RAM than when I started. I may have to leave JD another message on his answering machine
