Total distance was 1,959 miles. Yes I drove. I thought it would be easier on my car to drive Route 66 (Chicago, St. Louis, Oklahoma, Amarillo, New Mexico, and Northern Arizona.) I was wrong. Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona did not do my car favors with the hills and mountains. The shortest route would have been going through Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, and Utah. Great scenery in New Mexico and Arizona. Each state was interesting.
