I don't know nuffin bout berfin no babies Miss Scarlett!
It disturbs me that the youth of today have no idea what has taken place before their time. Kinda makes ya misty thinking about the things that they've missed. And this is just within the last 30-40 years
Atari
The "original" Nintendo circa 1985/86
The rise and fall of the video game arcades
The invention of the FM radio signal
Color Television - Most of our parents and the older folks here grew up with B/W television.
Television without a remote control - (didn't have one until I was 8, that's 1988 for you who are wondering)
No Cable/Sattellite to have 150 thousand stations...and still nothing on.
Having to wait for a re-release in theaters to see a movie again, or hope to catch it on TV - no VCR/DVD/Laserdisk to watch it whenever you feel like it.
For that matter- Laserdisk, DVD way before its time, only they were the size of records.
While I'm at it - Records...those "big black CDs" that only DJs and audiophiles seem to own anymore. (My collection is expanding on a weekly basis)
I'm betting most of you under the age of 18 don't even own any cassette tapes, or anything besides (possibly) a car stereo that would play them. |
