What would be the recourse of the actual owner of the CD in this case?
Let me elaborate:
I have a legal copy of HL, purchased by myself at a retail store and registered with Sierra when I installed on my comp. I have had it for many moons. Let's say tomorrow I try to play at the Ville and it won't let me because the CD key is already in use. Other than the fact that I would be royally pi$$ed, is there any way to right this wrong? Will the fact that I have registered the software be of any help? Will I have to resort to purchasing a new copy of HL? (Or worse yet, using a CD generator and depriving someone else of their game?-gak!)
(This is a purely hypothetical situation, but with CD key generators could be a frightening reality for someone someday.) |

yeah i know..i leant it to him b/c it wasn't workin on my old comp..and i didn't think we were getttin a new comp..but now i did what ToR told me and got it off my old one..so it's all good now

I dont know if they have one for HL, but like for starcraft, there are things you can download that read your CD key from the installation file and give it to you, so if you lost case you can install it again.
